Myself, I work at a very popular dentist, so I don’t see a problem.
OK, so if you have an emergency dental problem (say you’ve got a toothache, or a cut on your finger, or an infection, etc), you’ll need to go to the doctor and ask them to make an appointment.
But for the rest of your routine dental care, or emergency care if you want it, you can just go to your dentist.
And I bet most dentists have some kind of emergency fund, where they have cash in case you need an emergency. Most dental practices will offer you emergency dental treatment.
If you have a toothache, you won’t need to pay for your dentist’s time — just you.
But if you go to a general practitioner, the costs might be higher.
Some questions to ask:
How much will you have to pay the doctor?
If your GP does need to refer you to another GP or a specialist, what will this cost?
What will it cost to treat you as an emergency?
What other costs (like X-rays, blood tests, etc) might I have to pay out-of-pocket?
Sometimes an emergency fund is not very well advertised, and for a lot of people, they may not be insured for dental treatment.
